     To celebrate Labor Day the Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, is offering free admission to WWII veterans for the holiday weekend. The temporary exhibit “The Spirit of ’45” will continue to be on display. This exhibit commemorates the generation who fought in WWII and features artifacts and photographs donated by local servicemen and women.  The Trail Center will be open from 9a.m. to 5p.m. all weekend including Monday, September 5, 2011.

     Also in September, the Trail Center will be honoring the ten year anniversary of 9/11. On September 11, 2011 the museum will be showing a 1 hour HBO presentation: In Memoriam: New York City 9/11/01. Show times are 1pm and 3pm and admission to the show is free. A free will donation will be collected to give to local veterans groups in honor of the men and women who went to war as a result of the 9/11 attack.

     The Santa Fe Trail Center is located 2 miles west of Larned on Hwy K-156.  After Labor Day the museum will return to our winter hours Tuesday-Sunday 9a.m. to 5p.m and closed on Mondays. "Firearms Along the Santa Fe Trail" Program

The Santa Fe Trail Center presents:
Firearms Along the Santa Fe Trail
     The Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, invites the public to a program on firearms used along the Santa Fe Trail. A special display of firearms will accompany a presentation by Fort Larned park ranger Mike Seymour, well known local expert on this topic. Come and explore the types of firearms used along the Santa Fe Trail. The program will include an introduction about women and their use of firearms at military posts.
     The program will be held in the Trail Center’s auditorium at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, August 21.  Admission to this program, and all third Sunday of the month programs, is half price: Adults - $2.00, Students ages 12 to 18 - $1.50, Children ages 6 to 11 - $0.75, Fort Larned Historical Society members – Free.

Spirit of '45!


The Santa Fe Trail Center presents:

The Spirit of ‘45

The Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, invites the public to view a temporary exhibit commemorating the generation who fought in World War II. The exhibit features artifacts and photographs related to the armed forces and the home front from 1940-1945.  Items from the museum’s collections highlighting local servicemen and women will be on display. The U.S. Congress has designated August 14 as National Spirit of ’45 Day. The American Association of State and Local History has encouraged museums across the country to participate in honoring the Spirit of ’45.
The Santa Fe Trail Center is located 2 miles west of Larned on Hwy K-156.
